The
Treasurer noted that many members were not currently financial and asked
members to check if they had paid their annual $5 membership.
Correspondence
Marie
reported on further correspondence with the Council re shared bikepaths. Marie is
preparing a grant application for $24,000 to the Department of Sport and
Recreation and is waiting on a letter of support from the Council (Note after
meeting: Received, MZ)
It will be lodged next week.
Community
issues
Dunecare
was unsuccessful with its application for a grant from the State Government for
work along the banks of Candlagan Creek.
Fran Anderson has taken over the leadership of Dunecare and appealed for
more helpers. In addition to the regular
Sunday afternoon working bees, she suggested that people may wish to adopt a
small area of the dunes and look after it in their own time. This would provide an alternative for those
who find it difficult to come on the Sunday afternoons. Two current tasks are to prevent the
proliferation of paths through the dunes at Imlay and Massey Streets and also
south of the toilet block at
Two Mynah birds have been caught in the area, totalling 7 for
Broulee, with 75 caught in the district.
Report all sightings to Courtney at Council, who will contact Peter and
John to provide traps.
Derek
Anderson reported on meetings to discuss sea level rise in the area over the
next 100 years. Norm Lenehan,
Sea Management Planner, addressed the meetings held in Broulee, Tuross, Narooma
and
Shared
pathways – Warren Sharpe congratulated BCA on its fund-raising. Surveyors have covered from the Surf Club to
Community events
Art on the Path – the two days were very
successful. Stallholders asked if we
would hold another. The meeting agreed that the two currently held are
enough. Fund raising through raffles
could target the Easter visitors.
Clean up
High Tea at Bodalla – a group of BCA members
attended a high tea at Bodalla to raise funds for the Moruya pathway. The afternoon at the CWA Hall raised over $1000. It
was a good opportunity to show solidarity with the Moruya Group who have
offered to provide labour for our pathway.
Community Mosaic project – The Broulee Boardriders are
supporting a plan to beautify Broulee with mosaics. The first proposal is to cover the toilet
block at
Cyclists for Sustainability – a group of cyclists from

Bill
McGarry congratulated Peter Louttit on his work
organising the kerbside trees in
Lindsay
moved that BCA purchase a marquee (aprrox $200) for use
at various functions, like Art on the Path.
Seconded Bill Reid and agreed by the meeting.

moved that a new professionally made banner be purchased for BCA ($165). Seconded Barbara Evans. Carried by the meeting.
Special
Presentation
Tim
Clare, a chiropractor at Mossy Point, addressed the meeting. He talked about the philosophy of his work,
the wellness model of life, in which the spinal column and nervous system have
a vital role. He works on the basis of
payment according to what one can afford.
He is involved in the cycling group and is keen to stage a bike ride
from headland to headland in the future.
Next Meeting – the Executive will meet in mid-March to
